Helping Nonprofits Build Stronger Financial Foundations for Greater Impact

Sejal Nanavati CPA

Certified Public Accountant | Nonprofit Financial Advisor | Partner to Mission-Driven Organizations

With more than 20 years of experience in accounting, tax, and financial advisory, I have had the opportunity to work with individuals, businesses, and organizations across New York, Denver, and Washington. I began my career as a Chartered Accountant in India and later earned my CPA in the United States.

Over the years, my work has given me broad experience in accounting, financial reporting, tax, compliance, and business advisory. Today, I am intentionally bringing that experience to a more focused purpose: helping nonprofit and mission-driven organizations build strong, sustainable financial foundations.

I believe nonprofits do some of the most meaningful work in our communities. Their focus should be on their mission, the people they serve, and the impact they create—not on struggling to understand their financial statements, keeping up with accounting requirements, or trying to make financial decisions without the right information.

Why Nonprofits?

My decision to focus my practice on nonprofits is deeply personal. Through volunteering and community involvement, I have seen the dedication that nonprofit leaders and volunteers bring to their work. I have also seen how much responsibility nonprofit organizations carry with limited resources.

I believe strong financial management can help these organizations protect their resources, demonstrate accountability, plan for the future, and ultimately do more of what they were created to do.

Whether an organization is growing, preparing for an audit, managing multiple grants, improving its accounting systems, developing a budget, or simply trying to gain a clearer understanding of its financial position, I want to be a trusted resource for thoughtful, practical financial guidance.

Bringing 20 Years of Experience to a New Purpose

My background in tax and accounting remains an important part of the value I bring to nonprofit organizations. It has taught me to look closely at the details, understand compliance requirements, identify potential issues, and think about the broader financial picture.

At the same time, I recognize that nonprofit organizations have unique accounting, reporting, compliance, and financial management needs. To deepen my technical knowledge in this area, I have completed the AICPA Nonprofit Certification Level 1 and Level 2 programs, giving me additional specialized education in nonprofit financial management, accounting, reporting, and compliance.

This combination of more than 20 years of accounting and tax experience with specialized nonprofit education allows me to bring both a broad financial perspective and a focused understanding of the nonprofit environment.

At this stage of my career, I am choosing to focus that experience specifically on nonprofits and mission-driven organizations.

This is not simply an additional service offering. It is a deliberate shift in where I want to invest my time, experience, and energy.

I want to build long-term relationships with organizations whose work makes a difference—and help their leaders feel confident that the financial side of the organization is being cared for.

When the finances are strong, leadership can focus more fully on the mission. That is the role I want to play.

Beyond the Numbers

From day-to-day accounting to strategic advisory, we provide the expertise and guidance you need to move your mission forward.

Integrity

I believe good financial relationships are built on trust, communication, responsiveness, and understanding. Every organization has a different mission, structure, funding model, and set of challenges, and I take the time to understand those differences.

Partnership

My goal is to be more than the person who prepares a financial report. I want to be a trusted financial advisor and long-term partner who helps nonprofit leaders ask the right questions, understand their options, and move forward with clarity.

Excellence

I am licensed by the Washington State Board of Accountancy and am a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Let’s Build a Stronger Nonprofit Sector Together

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy volunteering and giving back to the community. I find balance through cooking, yoga and meditation, hiking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
